ci è giunta notizia, e con comprensibile e vivo stupore, che il sito www.controversi.org, dedicato alla diffusione di audiobook da oltre quattro anni, potrebbe venire sospeso per non ben meglio chiarite problematiche di ordine tecnico.
Come è ovvio stiamo tentando di fare il possibile perché questo non accada, ma le cose non dipendono solo ed esclusivamente da noi.
Speriamo di poter continuare a offrire, come abbiamo fatto finora, cultura libera e gratuita.

La Passione secondo Matteo (Matthäuspassion) di Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 244) è una composizione di musica sacra per voci soliste, doppio coro e doppia orchestra, su libretto di Picander. Si tratta della trasposizione musicale dei capitoli 26 e 27 del Vangelo secondo Matteo, inframezzata da corali e arie. Viene considerata fra i capolavori non solo di Bach ma dell'intera musica occidentale.
Quello di Die Hohe Messe in H-moll o Grande Messa in si minore non è il titolo originale bachiano, ma venne attribuito all'opera nella prima edizione a stampa, nel 1845. La scelta del titolo fu sicuramente legata al concetto tedesco di Missa solemnis divenuto popolare grazie all'op. 123 di Beethoven. L'opera non nacque come discorso coerente, ma in tempi diversi (1724; 1733; 1747-1749), come molte altre composizioni di Bach.
Bach compose ciò che sarebbe diventato il Gloria della Messa in Si minore per il giorno di Natale del 1724 e aggiunse, nel 1731, un Kyrie così da poter presentare una Messa breve (Kyrie e Gloria, BWV232a) al principe di Sassonia Federico Augusto II, assieme alla richiesta di poter aggiungere al proprio nome il titolo di "compositore della corte del principe di Sassonia", una mossa grazie alla quale Bach sperava di rimanere a Lipsia, dove era protagonista di qualche schermaglia politica con l'amministrazione cittadina. La partitura non fu mai eseguita, fino al 1737, quando Bach decise di rivisitarla. Cominciò con revisioni minori al Kyrie e al Gloria, poi aggiunse il Credo e il Sanctus nei due anni seguenti. Nel 1749, Bach era molto malato e trascorse a letto diversi mesi; il manoscritto delle ultime parti della Messa, specialmente l'Osanna all'interno del Sanctus, rivela una grafia vacillante e una notazione irregolare, testimoniando dell'ormai prossima fine del grande compositore.
È comunque ormai convinzione diffusa che quasi tutti i venticinque numeri di cui consta la partitura non siano stati scritti espressamente bensì siano parodie o adattamenti da opere precedenti: dalla Cantata 46 "Schauet doch und sehet"; dalla Cantata 171 "Gott, wie Dein Name, so ist Auch Dein Ruhm"; dalla Cantata 29 "Wir danken dir, Gott"; ed ancora da diverse altre opere antecedenti. Essa è dunque tanto più ammirevole, in quanto frutto di un montaggio perfettamente equilibrato, e si impone come una delle più alte creazioni dello spirito umano nel campo della musica sacra, la quale per altro ha anche l'unicità di saper fondere in un unico corpo le maggiori espressioni del pensiero cristiano, la teologia cattolica e quella luterana.

Battezzato Carolus Philippus Immanuel secondo figlio maschio di Johann Sebastian Bach e della sua prima moglie Maria Barbara. Georg Philipp Telemann fu suo padrino di battesimo. Nel 1717 con la famiglia si recò a Köthen, dove il padre prese il posto di maestro di cappella. Dopo la morte della madre, avvenuta nel 1720, fu a Lipsia, dove Johann Sebastian diventò Thomaskantor nella primavera del 1723. A dieci anni fu ammesso come studente alla Chiesa di San Tommaso; presso questa scuola fu allievo del padre, dal quale ricevette lezioni di tastiera e organo. Intraprese anche lo studio del violino e della viola, ma ebbe non poche difficoltà nel suonarli a causa del suo mancinismo.
Dal 1731 al 1734 studiò giurisprudenza all'Università di Lipsia. Dopo esser stato rifiutato come organista a Naumburg, nel settembre del 1734 si trasferì a Francoforte sull'Oder, dove entrò all'Università Viadrina; nel 1738 decise di concludere la sua carriera accademica per dedicarsi solamente a quella musicale.
Quindi nel 1740 fu nominato clavicembalista della cappella del re prussiano Federico II il Grande (non si sa se prima o dopo l'incoronazione del re prussiano avvenuta il 31 maggio 1740); precedentemente per un certo periodo prestò servizio anche presso le cappelle dello stesso re a Ruppin e a Rheinsberg, dove studiò con l'allora maestro di cappella Carl Heinrich Graun e con il fratello Johann Gottlieb Graun. In questo periodo diventò uno dei clavicembalisti più noti d'Europa. Egli prestò continuamente l'attività di accompagnatore al clavicembalo di Federico II, flautista dilettante, dal 1740 al 1755 con uno stipendio iniziale di 300 talleri, che successivamente incrementò. Tuttavia Bach era ben lungi nell'arrivare a guadagnare come i suoi colleghi cantanti e concertisti (come Johann Joachim Quantz), i quali veniva ricompensati con stipendi notevolmente maggiori.
Contemporaneamente all'attività clavicembalista egli si dedicò profondamente alla composizione; infatti le sue composizioni, che nel 1731 ammontavano già a circa 30 sonate e vari concerti per il suo strumento preferito, in questo periodo furono numerose: egli compose le Preußische Sonaten nel 1742 per Federico il Grande, le Württembergische Sonaten nel 1744 per il granduca di Württemberg, il Magnificat nel 1749, le Cantate di Pasqua nel 1756 e molte sinfonie, concerti e altri lavori sacri.
Nel 1743 egli prese la gotta, che gli causò problemi per tutta la vita, e l'anno seguente si sposò con Johanna Maria Dannemann, figlia di un mercante berlinese di vino, dal quale matrimonio ebbe tre figli, fra i quali si ricorda Johann Sebastian (1748-1778), il più giovane dei tre, che diventò pittore. Il 7 maggio 1747 vi fu il famoso incontro a Potsdam tra Johann Sebastian e il re prussiano, per il quale il padre aveva composto e dedicato l' Offerta Musicale Op. BMW1079. Tuttavia questo avvenimento non portò alcun miglioramento al posto che Carl Philipp Emanuel teneva a corte. Nel 1751 si recò a Bückeburg, dove dall'anno precedente era impiegato il fratellastro Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach come musicista di corte, e successivamente a Schaumburg-Lippe, dove dedicò al conte Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst, suo amico d'infanzia, due suoi trii. Sempre nello stesso anno fece visita al compositore Johann Mattheson ad Amburgo e forse anche al padrino Telemann.
Dopo la morte del padre, egli non riuscì a prendere il suo posto di Thomaskantor a Lipsia, ottenendo solamente quello di organista a Zittau nel 1753. Questo anno vide anche la pubblicazione della prima parte del suo trattato più noto, Versuch über die wahre Art das Clavier zu spielen (la seconda parte fu pubblicata sempre a Berlino nel 1762), un trattato sul modo di suonare il clavicembalo all'epoca in Germania. Nel 1755 il suo stile lezioso fu duramente criticato dal teorico e compositore tedesco Christoph Michelmann nel proprio scritto Die Melodie, nach ihrem Wesen sowohl, als nach ihren Eigenschaften. Questo contrasto fra i due compositori si concluse con l'uscita di Michelmann dalla corte berlinese e con la riduzione dello stipendio di Bach a 200 talleri.
Successivamente, attorno al 1760, dedicò alcune sonate e concerti per organo alla duchessa Anna Amalia von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel. Tra il 1762 e il 1764 scrisse la maggior parte delle sue sinfonie e nel 1763 celebrò il Trattato di Hubertusburg, che concluse le ostilità della guerra dei sette anni tra Austria e Prussia, componendo la marcia h621(w188).
Nel marzo del 1768 successe a Telemann, morto il 25 giugno 1767, nella carica di direttore della musica e di cantore presso il Johanneum di Amburgo; per aver ricevuto tale posto fu soprannominato il Hamburghischer Bach (Bach Amburghese). Durante il periodo amburghese (l'ultimo della sua vita) si dedicò principalmente alla composizione di musica sacra: infatti l'anno successivo portò a termine il suo oratorio Die Israeliten in der Wüste e tra il 1769 e 1788 mise in musica 20 passioni, un secondo oratorio, Die Auferstehung und Himmelfahrt Jesu, nonché 70 cantate, litanie, mottetti e altri lavori sacri. Per il clavicembalo scrisse sei volumi di sonate per gli intenditori e gli amatori. Egli morì nel 1788 ad Amburgo e qui fu sepolto nella Chiesa di San Michele. Dopo la sua morte i poeti Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock e Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim gli dedicarono un necrologio poetico.
Lucia di Lammermoor è un'opera in tre atti di Gaetano Donizetti su libretto di Salvadore Cammarano, tratto da The Bride of Lammermoor (La sposa di Lammermoor) di Walter Scott.
La prima assoluta ebbe luogo al teatro San Carlo di Napoli il 26 settembre 1835. In seguito lo stesso Donizetti curò una versione francese che andò in scena al Théâtre de la Renaissance di Parigi il 6 agosto 1839.

Il risultato è lusinghiero? E' scarso? Ce ne (pre)occupiamo poco, a dire il vero. Il valore aggiunto di questi numeri è che chi ha scaricato da noi ha accettato la logica della musica e della cultura libera, senza orpelli burocratici.
The Mass in B minor (BWV 232) is a musical setting of the complete Latin Mass by Johann Sebastian Bach. The work was one of Bach's last, although much of it was made of music that Bach had earlier composed. Bach assembled the mass in its present form in 1749, just before his death in 1750. The Sanctus of the Mass in B minor dates back to 1724 (and the model for one parody even to 1714). The Kyrie and Gloria had been composed as a Lutheran Missa in 1733 for Dresden. To complete the work, however, Bach composed new sections of the Credo such as Et incarnatus est. These were his last major compositions.
It was unusual for composers working in the Lutheran tradition to compose a missa tota and Bach's motivations remain a matter of scholarly debate. The mass was never performed in Bach's lifetime, and the work largely disappeared in the 18th century. Several performances in the early nineteenth century, however, sparked a revival both of the piece and the larger rediscovery of Bach's music. Today, it is widely hailed as a monumental work of the late Baroque and is frequently performed. The Mass was described in the 19th century by Hans Georg Nägeli as "The Greatest Artwork of All Times and All People".
